All about baking a cheesecake

Author: Administrator
What is the first thing that comes to your mind when someone describes a dessert which is rich, creamy and smooth? If you haven't guessed already then it is a big slice of cheesecake. This dessert is considered to be a favourite among many, since it looks good, tastes better and has a smooth texture that goes well in the pallet. However, many people shy away from trying their hand at baking this wonderful sweet dish and dare only to order them at restaurants. But, it's not at all that difficult to bake it, so continue reading to learn more on how you can make it at home.

If you are wondering what a cheesecake actually consists of, well it is nothing less than custard made of eggs and dairy. It is in fact the eggs that serve to be a source of discomfort for aspiring bakers. However, you need to keep in mind that these hitches needn't reflect on the overall taste, but they make it appear to look cracked or sinking, which means even if it doesn't look that good, it would taste wonderful. Also, ensure that you don't heat up the eggs too much since they can coagulate, and being overcooked or unevenly cooked would make the cake crack.

Before you start baking the cheesecake, you need to ensure that all the ingredients are at room temperature. Then you need to take out the eggs, cream cheese as well as the other ingredients for over an hour before you start. Then when you begin mixing the ingredients, add in the cream cheese first and don't mix it too much. Then you can proceed to add one egg at a time and keep scraping the sides of the bowl so that everything is mixed thoroughly. This will certainly help you avoid cracks caused by a large temperature difference.
After you place the cheesecake in the oven ensure that you don't open it for at least the first 30 minutes. It would be best to cook at a lower temperature or use a water bath. This is because it would add moisture to it and would maintain an even temperature throughout the entire dessert. You need to wrap it at the bottom using a spring foam pan along with a lot of heavy duty foil in order to keep the water out of it. It would be best to use a large pan with small towels kept at the bottom of the pan.

The main thing that you need to ensure is that you use quality ingredients when you make your cheesecake. Only then would you be able to derive the best flavour. Then you need to use real cream and milk with low fat content, which would produce a creamier and rich texture. You can use pure vanilla to enhance the taste. Since this is one of the key ingredients you could go in for homemade vanilla extract for the best results.
These are a few things that you need to keep in mind about cheesecake.
